In this article we will talk about the projects concerning reading that the schools propose to children. We interviewed Teresa Barbaro, teacher and writer of some children's books, about it. Below there is one of the questions we asked her:

“DO YOU THINK THE SCHOOL AND ITS PROJECTS ENCOURAGE THE READING BETWEEN CHILDREN?”

“I believe that the school and its projects encourage reading because they offer ideas, bases and suggestions that however need to be cultivated also in the extracurricular environment to grow strong and healthy.

In schools:

• A space in the school is used as a school library.

• In the school where I work, there is a teacher (me) who has been working on the school library for several years. The books are divided on the shelves by publishing house, genre and type.

• In many classes books from the school library are kept and used for home loans. Upon return, the child can carry out an activity related to the book.

• In the school where I teach there is a Library Commission that meets all classes in December to read Christmas stories or songs and in May to celebrate the "International Reading Day".

• In some schools meetings are held with some authors of children's books, so that children can ask questions. Last year, in our Institute, came from Padua Mirco Maselli, author and illustrator for children.

• In the school where I work for five years, I started the project "The library open for you". This is the opening of the school library, once a week, after the curriculum hours, for just over an hour.

• The pupils, accompanied by their parents, can come to read, leaf through books and, if they wish, borrow some. From this year, with a colleague who supports me in the project, we thought of make an opening a month coincide with a play activity related to the book; in this way we found that the number of participants has increased.

• Another project was the "Best Reader". He hooked himself to borrowing books of the school library and rewarded those who read more books, not forgetting recognition of the "status" of reader to other children, all in one official frame, in the presence of a municipal authority such as the Assessor to the Education of the country where the school is located.”

These were many activities that schools develop for children. We think that schools contribute decisively to the growth of children, and these activities are very important and instructive.
